At CDM Street Furniture, we design, manufacture and install architecturally designed bin surrounds, completely in-house. It is through this fact alone that we are able to control the quality and integrity across every square millimetre of our products.

Our background in architectural design drives us to ensure the products we create are aesthetically pleasing without ever compromising functionality. This allowed us to conceptulise a modular design that allows for cost-effective panel replacement, all while utilising premium materials and superior construction methods. Each piece of street furniture will last the test of time and takes care of the bottom line.

At CDM Street Furniture, we are passionate and extremely proud that we work from concept to completion. This simple philosophy is ingrained in everything we set out to achieve and allows us to control and manage every step of the process. We don’t just design street furniture. We conceptualise it, design it, manufacture it, test it, re-think it, innovate it and install it. Being involved in every step of the process means we know our product literally inside and out, top to bottom. We understand how it will be used and in turn, create it so that it is completely fit-for-purpose.

Architecturally Designed Bin Surrounds

Our street furniture compliments the outdoor spaces in which it will reside. Drawing from our architectural background, we value design and desire our pieces to sit within the finished landscape, like they were meant to be there and not just an unappealing, yet essential, after thought.

Our sole focus and specialty is the design and manufacture of bin surrounds. This allows us to commit our total architectural spirit and ethos to ongoing research and development of the humble bin surround. Often thought as an eye-sore but a must-have in any open space, we were determined to re-think how a bin can look and make it beautiful, yet durable.

Our bin surrounds were born from a conversation with a large council that wanted something better. A product that would perform and function well to the end user. From here we took the same architectural design approach as if we were to design commercially, discussing known failures from both the end-user and the team that service the surrounds, creating a 360-degree opinion about how it could be done differently. As a result, we have designed an aesthetically appealing and durable bin surround suite that caters to the ability to mix and match to suit any and all rubbish requirements.

Our research and travels sees us forever incorporating new materials and design trends that creates endless options of how your finished bin surrounds will look, behave and age as time goes by.

Mad for Modular

What really sets our bin surrounds apart is the modular nature of the product. This method of design has seen us create a panel system which directly fix to each other. Not only does this make installation easier, but it makes the replacement of panels a breeze. Once a damaged panel has been identified, it can quickly be swapped with a new one meaning you don’t have to replace the product in full. This makes servicing and keeping the piece looking like brand-new easy and affordable.  

This modular design also allows you to create street furniture that is completely fit-for-purpose. From one bin to multiple and across a variety of sorting applications (general rubbish, recycle, green waste or a combination), you can create a solution that works best for you and the end-user.

Materials

When selecting the materials that we would use to create our bin surrounds, we insisted on specifying only those that are of quality and allow superior functionality. Our chutes are made of stainless steel and form a 360-degree chute to maximise the feed of rubbish into the bins. This stainless-steel creates a high resistance to corrosion, allowing the bin surrounds to outperform others on the market when thinking longevity alone. This resistance is due to a naturally occurring chromium-rich oxide film. Although extremely thin, this invisible, inert film is tightly adhered to the metal and creates an extremely protective barrier that guards against a wide range of elements that can be corrosive. In the event that it is penetrated, it can rapidly self-repair in the presence of oxygen, allowing it to keep its integrity and carry on protecting the surround.  

From here, the rest of the surround is completely customisable to ensure any design trend or required aesthetic can be met. Almost any material imaginable can be incorporated into the side panels whilst keeping the stainless-steel chutes. Your logo can be cut into each side panel whilst your existing lock specifications can be carried across so that all current keys will match and operate the new surrounds. We can also custom design the information stickers that go on each side of the bin or we can use your existing design.

Our expert team offers a cost-effective installation service that allows you to focus on completing your existing works knowing that the bin surrounds are installed to our exacting and very high standards, the same standards we know you expect and deserve.
